Slinger FD is a 100% volunteer fire department with approximately 45 members. Members respond to calls as they can, not paid on call or required to stay in response area. SFD responds to 175-200 calls for service per year including fires, mutual aid requests, vehicle accidents, alarms, investigative calls, EMS and law enforcement assists.

    • The Service Award Program (formerly called the Length of Service Award Program, or LOSA) for volunteer fire fighters, first responders and emergency medical technicians was created by 1999 Wisconsin Act 105. The Service Award Program is a tax-deferred benefit program to assist municipalities in retaining volunteer fire fighters, first responders and emergency medical technicians.”

  • 24/7 department fitness center available for use

  • Give back to the community you live in and network amongst diversely experienced members

Requirements:
  • At least 18 years old

  • Possess a valid Driver's License to operate fire apparatus

  • Background check required

  • Reside within 6 miles of Fire Station, 201 Oak St. Slinger, WI 53086

  • Minimum attendance requirement, 12 trainings, 15 fire calls

    • Trainings are generally held on Tuesday evenings

  • 1-year probationary period

  • Must obtain State Certified Firefighter 1/HazMat Operations certificate within 1 year
